Add a student to a test plan

How to add new studets to an existing test plan

This page explains how to use the Add to Test Plan feature on the Testing Hub to include newly rostered students in an existing test plan. This is useful when students are added after a test plan has already been created and assigned.

Where to find the test plan

On the Testing Hub page, locate the test plan you want to update. In the Add to Test Plan column, click the plus sign (+) next to the plan. This opens the student selection interface.

What you’ll see

Left panel: students already in the test plan
  • These students are disabled (grayed out) and cannot be removed.
  • Their access codes and progress are preserved.
  • This list helps you confirm who is already included.
Right panel: students eligible to be added
  • Shows newly rostered students who match the test plan criteria.
  • You can select individual students or use the Select All checkbox.
  • If no students meet the criteria, you’ll see: “No students meet criteria.”

Important rules

Student record requirement
  • Students must be imported before they can be added to a test plan.
Student limit
  • Each test plan can include up to 300 students.
  • For example, if the plan already has 295 students, you can only add 5 more.
  • If you try to exceed the limit, the system will block the action and show a warning.
Test plan integrity
  • Test plan details (grade, test order, etc.) are locked and cannot be changed.
  • The system ensures that adding students does not introduce conflicts.
  • At least 1 student must be selected in order to generate a new test plan.
  • User cannot add students to a test plan that has already expired (navigation to page is not possible).

What happens after you submit

  • New access codes are generated for the newly added students.
  • The enrichment link is updated to reflect the new student list.
  • The PDF associated with the test plan is also updated to reflect the newly added students.
  • Newly added students will appear at the bottom of the list in the PDF.

Tips

  • Double-check that student records are imported before starting.
  • Use the search bar to find specific students quickly.
  • Coordinate with your team if you're close to the 300-student cap and create a new test plan.
  • Check that the galleries on the page have no overlapping students.
  • Ensure that the test reservation test order for the newly added students is correct (i.e., check test reservations table).
  • Confirm that the access codes work.
  • Ensure that everything works as intended for a test plan that has “Class” and a test plan that does not have a “Class”.

The generate button will be disabled if no students are selected, or if the total number of students in the test plan (including the students you just added) equals more than 300.

To enable the generate button, make sure at least one student is selected, and the total number of the students in the test plan (including the students you just added), is equal to or less than 300.
